The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Sorbet 1er Cru comes from their expanded holdings of 1.15 hectares (Truchot fans will recognize this vineyard.) This has a superb, focused, tensile bouquet with much more mineralité and complexity than the Clos Baulets. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, judiciously applied new oak (20%) and stems (40-50%). The finish is quite contained; maybe saving something for later? Very promising.

Once again, the nose is cool, pure and airy while combining exuberantly spicy notes of the essence of red currant with hints of earth, violet and a whisper of wood toast. There is very good size, weight and richness to the concentrated middleweight plus flavors that possess a slightly finer texture thanks to the dense but fine-grained tannins supporting the impressively persistent and well-balanced finale. This is also worth checking out.
