Before you ask "what's all this monkey business?", yes there's a good reason for the banana puns. Interestingly, this small-batch gin from Chatsworth contains Cavendish banana leaves as one of its botanicals, adding a pleasant, herbal note to the gin. Not only that, but the bananas are grown right there on the estate, where they were first cultivated in 1820! The Cavendish banana is now the most common variety, and there's a good chance the ones you just bought can be traced back to the ones first grown at Chatsworth. There you go, something to tell your friends over a G&T made with this delicious gin. Nose: Aromas of juniper and lemony, herbal citrus. Palate: Bright and vibrant on the palate with piney juniper, citrus and rosemary. Finish: �A finish of lemon, herbal notes and peppery juniper. The producer of our small batch spirit is artisan 59-year-old Robert Evans, who runs Peak Ales and Peak Artisan Drinks with his wife Debra and a staff of nine based at his two sites: a purpose-built brewery at Ashford-in-the-Water and a Boutique Distillery in a large renovated 19th-century barn, based on the Chatsworth Estate in the Peak District.
